Seasonal roads and access
Cedar Breaks is open year-round, but Highway 148 and the scenic road through the park close to vehicles in winter. Check National Park Service road information before leaving.
Use the winter access page when planning a snow-season visit. Getting into the park in winter takes different preparation from driving to the summer overlooks.
Trails and overlooks
The paved Sunset Trail connects Point Supreme and Sunset View. The Alpine Pond Loop passes through forest and meadows. Review the National Park Service’s distances and difficulty descriptions to choose a route for your group.
These trails begin above 10,000 feet. Allow time to adjust to the altitude, stay on designated trails and follow guidance near the rim. You can also plan a visit around the overlooks without adding a longer hike.
Ranger programs and night-sky events
Check the official Cedar Breaks calendar for programs during your stay. Read the reservation and weather details for any event you plan to attend, and pack for the forecast.
Adding Zion to your trip
Choose which part of Zion you want to visit before planning the drive. Kolob Canyons is a different destination from Zion Canyon near Springdale, where visits to the Narrows and Angels Landing begin.
Use National Park Service directions for the entrance you need. A general drive time to “Zion” may refer to a different part of the park.
